Welcome to Project: Purse and Boots

What? Purses? And Boots? At the same time? Are you mad?

Why, yes! Thank you for asking! But many of you already knew that.

What the heck is Project: Purse and Boots and how do I get my hands on one of those scrumptiously tacky hand-bags??

It’s a Reason for a Party.
Do we need a reason? No. We don’t. But let’s be honest, do we ever go play without an actual reason? No. We never, ever do.
So I’m giving you a reason. Mailing you one, in fact. So you
will get your hands on that scrumptiously tacky hand-bag!

It’s a Fundraiser.
For you? No, not for me, although I’d love someone to do that so I could quit work and get up close and personal with daytime TV. Project: Purse and Boots is a fundraiser for The American Stroke Association.

Parties, purses and fundraisers all together? Are you mad?
I think we already covered that. Pay attention!

Explain yourself, woman!
Project: Purse and Boots is an on-tour piece of ridiculous glam that moves from blogger to blogger in order to inspire a Women’s Night (although you can invite all the men you wish!) You need a party, you really do. You need a celebration and something to get you out of your blogging clothes and into fancy duds (Spanx are optional – totally up to you) to get together with a bunch of friends and go play!

As The Purse moves across the country from Women’s Night to Women’s Night, I am pounding the pavement looking for pledges. Up and down, high and low. I will call for a pledge for each stop I can get The Purse to – each stop equals $$$! So while you are making some time to take care of yourself and the people around you who also need a little rest and recreating, we will be earning money to support The American Stroke Association.

Why The American Stroke Association?
The first reason is that as geriatric rehabilitation specialist, I have seen the devastating consequence of stroke my whole career. Also, my very wonderful Grandma (see Penny’s Page) nearly lost her life to stroke in her 60′s, and then eventually succumbed to cerebrovascular disease in her 90′s. And finally and most importantly, we as moms and dads, sons and daughters, are starting to become aware of the changing health of our parents or grandparents (and sometimes even ourselves).
We are starting to think about how we will help support and care for our parents when they need us, and we all want long, healthy lives for them. This is a way.

What will I need to do?
Sign up to get the purse. Organize a night out with the people you love  most. Take a handful of outrageous photos. Email the photos to me. Mail the purse to the next person.

Is the Purse Party A Fund Raiser?
I would love for it to be. If everyone who gets their glam on can donate $5 to Project: Purse and Boots, we’ll just keep adding up the dough.

What’s the Time Frame?
I will be launching Project: Purse and Boots when I meet up with some of my blogging friends at Bloggy BootCamp San Francisco.  After we take our trashy pictures, I will send the purse along to its first destination. The traveling purse will wind its way ’round the country and conclude its travels at BlogHer11 in San Diego.

What’s the Goal?
The goal for Project:Purse and Boots is to raise $10,000 for the American Stroke Association.

Is there Anything More I can do?
How lovely of you to ask! If you are keen to put a little more on your plate, please see the page called “What More I can do?”

So what now?
Leave me a comment! Send me an email! Tell me Lori for heaven’s sake, SEND ME THAT PURSE!”
